So just curious if there is anyone here who has a career as a dog trainer or behaviorist. I've seen some schools where you can get certified to do this and have thought about it but wasn't sure if this is a career that a blind person could do.
Thanks.

Hi,

I can't say I know anyone who does it like, to get paid, and the one person I know who knows a lot about training mostly does it for her own service dogs because she prefers owner-training for a multitude of reasons, but, just in case you might be interested in respectfully approaching her with a few questions, her internet name in most places is Pawpower. Her ID on here is 1526.

Note that she does not mention that she trains in her profile, but should you click on the link listed in her profile, you would get her LJ account and would, of course, then be well aware that she does this. I am sharing this information not to violate anyone's privacy; the information is out there should you actually search for it, but to connect you with someone who knows a lot about dog training.

I care very much for her, and to my knowledge, we have no issues with our friendship. I would grately appreciate it if you did not get in touch with her saying I said that she would tell you this or that or the other, but rather, I am saying that you could get in touch with her and ask. She might not be willing, but that is not my experience with her. As long as someone is sincerely interested in learning, she has always, in my experience, been willing to share what knowledge she has.

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Amber
